A wind post (or windpost) is a structural element used to provide additional lateral support to masonry walls in high wind areas, or in walls that do not have sufficient buttressing. They are particularly important in tall buildings, open-plan structures, and buildings with large window openings, where the impact of wind forces is more pronounced.
They are typically manufactured from galvanised steel or stainless steel, and are located within the cavity or inner skin of a wall to ensure there are no protrusion out of the footprint of the wall.
By incorporating wind posts into your building’s design, you help ensure that the structure remains safe and secure under extreme weather conditions.
